The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reported the suspension was linked to “an alleged shoplifting incident,” while SEC Country cited sources saying Sprinkle tried to take more items than his Belk gift card was worth during a shopping spree at the store Tuesday.
Charlotte television station WSOC obtained from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department a list of eight items Sprinkle allegedly concealed in a shopping bag. The items had a combined retail value of $259.99. Sprinkle was cited at the store, according to the CMPD report.
“We have standards within our family that must be upheld on a daily basis and unfortunately he failed to do that in the last week. Jeremy’s suspension isn’t drug, alcohol or violence related but one that will cause him to miss his final game as a Razorback.”
Sprinkle has 33 receptions for 380 yards and four touchdowns this season.
