Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition is a re-developed Nintendo Switch port of the popular five-year-old survival game Ark: Survival Evolved. In both Ark: Survival Evolved and Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition, players assume the role of a survivor in a hostile prehistoric world filled with dinosaurs and dangers. The player has to survive by taming dinosaurs, building habitation, and advancing technology. The new Switch edition of the game is also going to add never-before-seen content with the educational Dinosaur Discovery mode.

Unfortunately, Grove Street Games has been forced to delay the release of the game, again. Not only have Grove Street Games struggled to release the Switch port, but the developer of the original title has also previously had issues releasing Ark DLCs in time. Now, according to the Switch studio, the release process has met some “unforeseen and unprecedented environment situation” in the Pacific Northwest. It’s unclear what exactly this means, especially since the studio is located in Gainesville, Florida, but it will not allow the release of the game in time for October 25.
At this point, the game studio expects the release to happen very early in November, although the exact date is not given. One could assume the game should be hitting the shelves before the 10th, probably aiming to be out even earlier than that - certainly before Ark 2 is ready for the limelight. Not giving an exact date might be due to already missing a few deadlines. The launch will happen first in the US, with the EU and other regions following shortly after.
Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition is essentially an Ark: Survival Evolved bundle. It comes with the base game as well as several already released and upcoming expansion packs, including Scorched Earth, Aberration, and Extinction. Scorched Earth will be available from the launch, Aberration in December 2022, Extinction in Q1 2023, and lastly Genesis Parts 1 and 2 in Q2 2023. There’s no word if Ark’s newer map expansions like Lost Island or Fjordur will be available from the launch.
The Switch version of the game will also be the first Ark game to have the educational Dinosaur Discovery feature that is aimed at kids. The more cartoon-like game mode allows for exploring the world and discovering dinosaurs safely. Dinosaur Discovery will also become available as a free download to those that have previously bought Ark: Survival Evolved. Ark 2 is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC as well.
Ark: Ultimate Survivor Edition is scheduled to release in very early November for Nintendo Switch.
