In collaboration with the Tillman Foundation, Adidas revealed a special pair of cleats for the “Salute to Service” game. The cleats resemble combat boot and are reinforced with Kevlar, suede and canvas from Army Rangers footwear.

Tillman,who played for the Sun Devils from 1994 to 1997 earning Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year honors along the way, spent four years in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals before leaving the league following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks to serve in the United States Army.
Tillman died in 2004 while on duty in Afghanistan, and since his death, has become a major part of Arizona State tradition.
