It’s insane to steal a walk-off, though. That’s exactly what Arizona did on Saturday.
The Wildcats needed a run against Rice in the bottom of the 9th inning. Waiting on third base was Arizona’s Kevin Newman, who dashed to the plate just before Owls pitcher Matt Ditman could deliver the ball.
Newman wound up making it under the tag, which the Rice catcher never really made as the ball popped free.
The steal gave Arizona the win, 7-6.
